Opening to the Paradox of the Nervous System

  • Sleep Bedder 2867 El Cajon Boulevard San Diego, CA, 92104 United States (map)

Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory (PVT) elucidates the nuances of the mammalian nervous system and underlies our perception, informs our actions and influences the quality of our relationships and our lives. The Polyvagal Theory is a scientifically grounded view of the autonomic nervous system that integrates what we understand evolutionarily and physiologically and creates a state of inquiry with modern day interest in wellness. There are three organizing principles of the PVT: 1) Hierarchy, 2) Neuroception and 3) Co-regulation.

Join us for a two hour immersion into the PVT through the hierarchy of the two branches (sympathetic and parasympathetic) and three pathways (ventral vagal complex, sympathetic nervous system and dorsal vagal complex) of the nervous system. The hierarchy opens us to the nuances and paradox of the nervous system.
